Images can be added to Wordpress posts in two different places: the Featured Image and in the Body of the post. Re-sizing images for the Featured Image isn't necessary, as that size is set by the Wordpress theme codes. Images can be resized from two different areas of Wordpress.


Resize image from the Media Library:

  1. Log in to your website. Click on Media in the left hand column.
  2. Locate the image you want to resize. Click the image. In the bottom right of the popup window, click Edit More Details.
  3. On the next screen, click the Edit Image button directly under the image.
  4. In the top right of the screen in the Scale Image section, type in the desired dimensions of the photo. The dimensions should always be less than the original dimensions.
  5. Click the blue Scale button under dimensions. The screen will refresh. To save the changes you made to the image, click the blue Update button on the right.

Resize image from the Edit Post screen:

  1. Log in to your website. Click on Posts in the left hand column.
  2. Locate the post you want to edit and click Edit underneath the title. Note: Be sure that your cursor is where you want the image to be inserted.
  3. Click Add Media in the post toolbar. The next screen will be the Media Library and Upload Image screen.
  4. Locate the image you want to resize and click it.
  5. In the right hand column of the screen, click Edit Image under the photo.
  6. In the top right of the screen, type in the desired dimensions of the photo. The dimensions should always be less than the original dimensions.
  7. Click the blue Scale button under dimensions. The screen will refresh. To save the changes you made to the image, click the blue Scale button on the right.
  8. Click the blue Back button at the bottom of the screen. This will take you back to the Media Library and from there you can add the image to your post.
